Four Books in Heaven

Updated: Aug 22, 2019

The bible says there are books in heaven that contain all the details of our lives. Revelation 20:12 says that one day these books will be opened and every person will get to see what things were written about our lives.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

We don't have a list of every book that will be opened on that day but the bible does mention a few of them. A person can't help but wonder, “What do the books of heaven say about me?”

Psalm 56:8. "You number my wanderings: put my tears into your bottle: are they not written in your book?"

It gives me a lot of comfort to know that when I cry, God not only notices and cares - it is recorded in His book for eternity about the day that my heart was hurting so bad that it couldn't be contained by my eyes.

God says He will wipe away every one of those tears from our eyes (Rev 21:4) Even the worst pain and affliction of this temporary life will be erased and will be as nothing when compared to the glory of the age to come (Rom. 8).

The next book that will be opened on that last day - is the book that contains every day that God planned for my life.

Psalm 139:15-17

When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance, geing yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

Before I was born, the Lord knew what I had been created for. He knew my positive traits and he knew my less favorable qualities as well. He is not surprised by the things life brings my way. This book contains the details of every day of my life and was written even before I even drew my first breath!

Another book the bible talks about is stored in heaven and is one of my favorites. Unlike some of the other books, it will not include all of mankind but will include only those who have found a special place in God's heart for something they do that pleases God very much.

Malachi 3:1 - Then they that feared the LORD spoke often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

This Book of Remembrance is written about those who love to talk about the Lord with one another. It says that when we talk about the Lord - He pays attention! A book of remembrance is written before him for those that love to think about Him and talk about Him!

The last book the bible talks about could easily be considered the most important book in heaven or earth. This book contains the official roll call of heaven. All of those who have asked God to wash away their sins by the blood of Jesus and follow Him faithfully until death are going to find their names written in this book.

Those whose names are listed in the Lamb's Book of Life will be granted entrance into heaven and will have their part in the New Jerusalem (Rev 21). The entire city will not need sunshine because it will be lit up with the glory of the Lord. They will get to see a pure water of life coming from the throne of God. They will be servants of the Most High God and they will eat from the Tree of Life that is for the healing of the nations.

1 Corinthians 2:9 "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the good things that the Lord has in store for those who love Him."

This book is also important because if anyone's name is not found in the Lamb's Book of Life they will worship the antichrist (Rev 13:7) and they will be thrown into the eternal lake of fire (Rev 20:15). If you are not sure your name has been written in the Lamb's Book of Life - Please pray and ask God to wash your sins away so you can have your inheritance in heaven with the all the people that follow Jesus. Even if a person has horrible sins the blood of Jesus can wash it all away and make that person as white and pure as snow (Isaiah 1:18).

I am sure there are many, many books that are found in heaven that have not been listed here. But I hope by learning about some of the books that are written, we all will walk with a realization that God cares for us. We don't shed one tear that He doesn't notice. Not one of our days has taken Him by surprise. He pays attention when we love to talk about Him, and He has endless rewards for those who love Him.

What will the record books of Heaven say about you? I hope that when the record books of heaven are opened on that special day of judgment - we will hear Him say "Well done thou good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your salvation." and He will be pleased with what has been recorded in these special books containing all the details of our lives.
